PRESCHOOL FINGER GYMNASTICS NEW! Preschool Finger Gymnastics Class (3 – 5 yrs)
– Fine motor readiness class for beginning learning of pre-writing development using fun activities! Students work on grasp development, eye-hand coordination, coloring, scissors skills, fine motor control and strengthening skills. Multi-sensory, gross motor learning of letter formations! A maximum of 5 children per class. This class is for typical children, as well as those with minimal developmental delay, and is led by an experienced occupational therapist. Research based programs are used with proven results! A pre and post activity will be performed at the beginning/end of this session show progress. Call for current schedule.
Cost: $200.00 plus $10.00 supply fee for 8 sessions
Social Expressions Class
A social skills group for children who have difficulty understanding social cues and developing friendships. Children will be grouped according to ages and/or developmental level. This group is designed to focus on social skills within a fun, interactive environment and is led by a special education teacher. Through a mixture of play, art time, and structured lessons, each session will reinforce positive behaviors to increase functional social skills that your child can use in everyday social settings.
Skills include:1. Attending skills, following instructions, listening, eye contact, body posture
2. Initiating and reciprocating conversation
3. Waiting, turn taking and teamwork
4. How to make and keep friends (examples: introducing yourself, asking for something, asking others to play, joining a group of activity already in progress, taking “No” for an answer, manners)
5. Understanding body language cues and tone of voice (self and others)
6. Identifying feelings (self and others), expressing feelings, and responding to others’ feelings
7. Dealing with stress, how to relax and regulate

Terrific Typing Class for Homeschoolers
Terrific Typing Class will be taught by a registered occupational therapist and is for students who are in 2nd thru 5th grades. This class integrates ON-keyboard practice through a typing manual with creative, multi-sensory typing OFF– keyboard activities. Students will participate in gym games, type creative art recipes, and complete hands-on keyboard memorization activities. A maximum of four students will attend each class.
Objectives: Learn home row keys and keyboard functions, Keyboard memorization, Kinesthetic typing, Increase speed of typing without looking at the keyboard
Keyboarding versus Handwriting? Students begin to use the keyboard in school between kindergarten and second grade. All students complete projects, essays, tests and use educational software on the computer throughout elementary school. By 6th grade, many projects are required to be typed and emailed directly to teachers. Many high school students prefer to type almost all lengthy assignments because it is faster! Adults can legibly write 20 – 25 words per minute but most can type much faster at up to 80 words per minute.Keyboarding is essential for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, or a written expression learning disability and can be mastered during the elementary school years.
